Will and Pip met at Edinburgh University in the early 2000s, where we took an Ecology and Ethics course together and were both deeply struck by the importance and urgency of learning to look after God’s creation.

The dream of ‘CACTUS’ was born during that time, out of a desire to both educate fellow Christ followers about the serious ecological issues we face, as well as inspire and equip people to join this missional adventure of creation care.

Over the past 15 years, we’ve focused increasingly on food and farming as a key way in which we can actively care for the whole creation, since food issues are often at the heart of the major ecological and social challenges we face, as well as offering an opportunity for us all to take action!

During this time we have also been growing as a family and now have with three children on this adventure with us.

The Journey Thus Far…

As well as offering Food and Faith teaching to Theology Colleges and Church groups, we have also farmed at Stream Farm in Somerset for a few years, run ‘Homegrown’ Supper Clubs in Bristol trying to champion local food producers, and set up the Jubilee Food Hub, a small cafe and city-wide food delivery business to facilitate the growth of a more relational and regenerative food system.

Future Hopes

We hope that sometime in the near future we will be farming again on a small-scale in Devon. We’d love to have a place where theology students, church groups and others can come to the farm and learn more about both the theological underpinnings and practical workings of a more Christ-centred food system.

We also hope to encourage local communities to look at ways to start Food Hubs - along the lines of the Jubilee Food Hub - as a means to regenerate community, the land and our relationships with our Creator.

Our Trustees

We are mightily blessed to have a very supportive group of Trustees who have journeyed closely with us throughout the early stages of CACTUS, bringing much wisdom to the table and keeping us focussed on the work in hand.

They have much experience, insight and advice that we are hugely grateful for.

Support Our Work

We provide most of our teaching to small groups and churches without charging, so our work is mostly enabled by gifts and grants, and we also have some courses that are paid for.
